R Madhavan’s Son Vedaant Madhavan Becomes India’s Latest Swimming Sensation
Indian swimmer Vedaant Madhavan is already being heralded as the country’s next bright star. He has become India’s Latest Swimming Sensation.
He has acquired so many medals & titles one by one including his first international medal in 2018.
The 16-year old Vedaant is the son of famed Indian South & Bollywood actor R Madhavan and his mother Sarita Birje.
He has improved his personal best to win the men’s 800m freestyle gold medal at the Danish Open in Copenhagen on Sunday.
Unlike other celebrity kids, Vedaant Madhavan prefers to forge his own path. And the adolescent has already discovered his passion for aquatics.
Vedaant Madhavan’s Journey & Achievements
He apparently became interested in swimming while a student at Dubai’s Universal American School.
Vedaant Madhavan went on to Goregaon Sports Club in Mumbai to master the sport.
In 2017, he participated in the Glenmark Aquatic Foundation program.

Vedaant made his debut at the Thailand Age Group Championships in 2018. In the 1500-meter freestyle event, he earned a bronze medal.
During the Asian Age Group Swimming Championships 2019, he was part of the Indian quartet that won silver in the 4x100m freestyle race for Group II boys.
At the Khelo India Youth Games 2020 in Guwahati, he also earned a bronze medal in the 1500m freestyle category.
He again earned bronze in the 1500m freestyle at the Latvia Open international meet in 2021. He finished seventh on the podium at the Junior National Aquatic Championships the same year.
Vedaant’s junior nationals total comprised silver medals in the 800m freestyle, 1500m freestyle, 4100 freestyle relay, and 4200 freestyle relay, as well as bronze medals in the 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, and 400m freestyle.
In the senior nationals in 2021, he came in third in the men’s 1500m & 800m freestyle events. In addition, he ranked 4th in the 4x200m race.
He got silver in the 1500-meter freestyle contest on Friday before winning gold on Sunday.
His main ambition is to win Olympic medals for India. In fact, he has relocated his training facility to Dubai in order to realize his ambition.
An Avid Animal Lover Too
Vedaant Madhavan is also a huge animal lover. He has a strong affinity towards animals.
At the age of nine, Vedaant Madhavan received the ‘PETA Compassionate Kid Award’ for saving animals in distress. PETA means People for Ethical Treatment of Animals.
