President Murmu & PM Modi Greet People On Utkal Divas
PM Modi appreciated the significant contribution of Odisha and its culture to the development of the country in his congratulations to the state’s citizens on the occasion.
On Saturday, Droupadi Murmu, an Odisha resident, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent their warmest wishes to the state’s citizens in honor of Utkal Dibasa. On the day of statehood, Murmu, an Odisha native, posted a greeting on Twitter.
“My greetings to fellow citizens, especially to the people of the State, on Odisha Day. With abundant natural resources, skilled, and entrepreneurial people, Odisha has the potential to be the growth engine of our economy. My best wishes for a bright future for the people of Odisha,” the president of India wrote in a tweet.
PM Modi appreciated the significant contribution of Odisha and its culture to the development of the country in his congratulations to the state’s citizens on the occasion. He continued by saying that the Odia people have made significant advances for India.

Importantly, Utkal Dibasa signifies the British division of the provinces of Bihar and Orissa in 1936, creating the modern state of Odisha as a separate entity. Before adopting the name Odisha, it was known as Orissa.
