Neeraj Pandey Sets OTT Thriller ‘The Freelancer’ On Disney+ Hotstar
Disney+ Hotstar India is set to release a new thriller series called “The Freelancer,” which is based on the bestselling book “A Ticket to Syria” by Shirish Thorat.
The show is created by Neeraj Pandey, known for Disney+ Hotstar’s “Special Ops” franchise, and produced by Friday Storytellers. The series is directed by Bhav Dhulia, who previously worked on Netflix’s “Khakee: The Bihar Chapter.”
“The Freelancer” follows the story of a young girl held against her will in war-torn Syria and the extraordinary rescue operation to save her.
The lead roles in the series are played by Mohit Raina, who portrays the titular character, and Anupam Kher, who portrays the analyst Dr. Khan. Other key cast members include Kashmira Pardeshi as Aliya.
The series has been shot across various international locations and aims to bring to life the largely unexplored and unseen world of war-torn Syria. The show promises a mix of high-scale thriller elements and a powerful ensemble cast.
The plot is inspired by the true story of Aliya, a young woman trapped in conflict-ridden Syria. It delves into her attempt to escape from the clutches of the Islamic State and the challenges she faces.
“The Freelancer” is set to stream on Disney+ Hotstar starting from September 1. Neeraj Pandey expressed his confidence in the cast and the hard work put into creating the series.
