Navjot Singh Sidhu resigns as Punjab Chief Minister allocates new cabinet
Punjab – Today Navjot Singh Sidhu resigns as the chief of Punjab Congress, merely two months after taking charge of the top job. He wrote a letter to party president Sonia Gandhi in this regard as he cannot compromise with the future of Punjab.
This shocking decision came just a while after Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi inducted fresh members in his Cabinet. Sidhu mentions in his letter that the collapse of a man’s character stems from the compromise corner. I can never compromise on Punjab’s future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab.
His resignation gave a touch of irony to developments in the Congress-ruled state, as it was at the bidding of a rebel camp led by Sidhu that the Congress leadership removed Amarinder Singh as chief minister. The latest development leaves the Gandhis in an awkward position, between the rebellious Amarinder Singh and the temperamental Sidhu.
