Delhi Capitals Coach Munaf Patel Penalised in IPL 2025 – Here’s Why

In an unusual case during this IPL season, the BCCI has fined Delhi Capitals‘ bowling coach Munaf Patel for breach of conduct of the IPL. He has been fined 25% of his match fee and given one demerit point after a dramatic Super Over victory by Delhi over Rajasthan Royals on April 16.
Although the IPL did not bring up any details, it was reported that Munaf was involved in an intense argument with the fourth umpire regarding sending a message to the players through the substitute fielder. This was captured in a video which quickly went viral after the match.
This was not the first time that Delhi faced the penalty. Captain Axar Patel had also been fined ₹12 lakh for slow over-rate earlier this season.
In the concluding Super Over, Mitchell Starc, KL Rahul, and Tristan Stubbs put Delhi to a glorious victory. Delhi Capitals are now placed at the top of the points table with 10 points after 6 matches.
