Modi Receives Premium Mercedes To Travel In For Reasons Of Protection
The PM of India is now moving in a 12-crore worth car that is going to protect him from bullets of all kinds. The Mercedes Benz Maybach 650 was armoured first at Hyderabad House when he met Russian President Vladimir Putin on his short visit to India.
The car is apparently, the latest facelifted model with VR10 level protection. Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard is powered by a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that produces 516bhp and a peak torque of approximately 900Nm. The maximum speed is limited to 160kmph.
The vehicle was specially asked for by the Special Protection Group or SPG, which is responsible for protecting the head of state of the country. They are the ones that usually submit the request for a new car. The SPG identifies security requirements and determines whether the person they are protecting needs a new vehicle. Since decoys are used, the SPG asks for the same model of vehicle.

World over, world leaders travel in one of the best cars. Joe Biden’s car for example is a specially-built Cadillac designed to ensure the President’s security and safety and reportedly cost more than £1million.
Modi’s new monster comes with some added features like a coated fuel tank with a special material that seals the holes automatically after a hit. It is made up of the same material that Boeing uses for its AH-64 Apache tank attack helicopters. It also runs on special run-flat tires that continue to function in case of damage or flat tires to ensure a quick escape.
To add to the magic, the S650 Guard body and the windows can withstand hardened steel core bullets. It has received a 2010 Explosion Proof Vehicle (ERV) rating and occupants are protected from a 15kg TNT explosion from a distance of only 2 meters. The interior of the window is coated with polycarbonate and the vehicle’s lower part is heavily armoured to protect the occupants from direct explosions. The cabin also receives a separate air supply in case of a gas attack.
