Microsoft Offers Generative AI Skill Training Course For Free
Microsoft has introduced a new initiative called ‘Skill for Jobs’ that aims to provide free courses on artificial intelligence (AI) through its collaboration with LinkedIn.
Recognizing the growing importance of AI skills for companies worldwide, Microsoft is addressing this need by offering introductory courses developed in partnership with LinkedIn.
The courses will cover various aspects of AI and include the first-ever professional certification for Generative AI.
Additionally, Microsoft has established a global grant challenge in collaboration with data.org to encourage the development of non-profit organizations and academic institutions dedicated to AI research and training.
Through this initiative, Microsoft aims to support organizations focused on fair and community-led implementations of generative AI, particularly among historically marginalized populations.
The grant challenge will provide resources and funding to these organizations, promoting skilling and economic growth in the field of AI.
Kate Behncken, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Philanthropies, emphasized the importance of supporting organizations driving inclusive AI advancements.
LinkedIn’s Skills for Jobs program will play a vital role in this initiative by offering online professional certification for Generative AI.
The coursework will cover introductory concepts, responsible AI frameworks, and provide a career essentials certificate upon completion.
The course is initially available in English and will subsequently be launched in multiple languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese. Microsoft plans to keep the course free until 2025, enabling broader access to AI education.
To further support AI skill development, Microsoft will provide trainer toolkits for teachers and facilitators
These toolkits will include downloadable, bite-sized content covering practical use cases of AI, making it easier for educators to incorporate AI training into their curriculum.
