Massive loss of Ghulam Nabi Azad in J&K Elections
Jammu and Kashmir’s former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, 75, had launched his Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) after quitting the Congress hoping that it would emerge him as a key player in J&K politics. But it turned out to be a disaster. Azad’s party, which contested 23 seats out of 90 in the Assembly polls, wasn’t able to make any impact. Five DPAP candidates secured less votes than NOTA,totaling the party getting over 10% votes in only three seats. Soon after this, the leaders in DPAP have started to leave even though they had strong political faces in the beginning.
