Maharashtra may consider institutional quarantine if covid cases continue to surge
On Sunday, Maharashtra recorded a daily surge of over 11,000 new cases of Covid-19, because of the rising covid cases in the state; the Maharashtra authority may examine the alternative of institutional quarantine for the new positive cases in the coming days.
In the past 24 hours in the western state 11,141 new covid cases were reported. Mumbai also saw the highest number of daily coronavirus cases at 1,361 since Oct 2021 when it had reported 1,354 cases in a day.
Amid the troubling figures, that have been rising pretty much consistently since the most recent month, the Central Government has sent a high-level team to Maharashtra.
According to NDTV reports, the sudden surge in coronavirus cases in Maharashtra could be because of a lack of fear of coronavirus or pandemic fatigue. The Center stated today while urging the state not to lose hope.
The government additionally noted that the disease is spreading in unaffected zones and a lot of cases are asymptomatic. It asked the state to proceed with surveillance, contact tracing, testing, and guarantee strict measures.
Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray stated on Sunday that current coronavirus patients are requested to self-isolate at home. However, there are reports that relatives of patients are not taking satisfactory preventions, which is bringing about relatives getting contaminated, he added.

“While the specific reasons for the increase in covid cases in Maharashtra is still unknown, however, it isn’t clear that the laxity in coronavirus behavior could be the potential reasons or coronavirus improper behavior because of the lack of fear of pandemic or missed out asymptomatic cases,” the report expressed.
