Leander Paes Marks Political Career; Joins Banerjee Brigade In Goa
Goa -Mamata Banerjee’s fan following has led tennis players and film stars to join her party, reports confirm. In the presence of this party supremo, Leander Paes has joined Trinamool Congress from Goa ahead of the 2022 elections. This marks his first move into politics.
Welcoming Paes in the party, Banerjee called the former Indian Tennis player her ‘younger brother’, adding that she knew him since he was a youth minister.
Also joining her recently has been Bollywood actress Nafisa Ali and Mrinalini Deshprabhu last week. This is a big move for the party which is looking at taking BJP by its horns in the forthcoming Goa elections. On its part, Aam Aadmi Party’s main leader, Arwind Kejriwal has already promised big changes in Goa, if he comes to power.

This includes the private sector representation too for the locals. Referring to the mining benefits and jobs that might be allocated to those outside of the coastal state, he reassured everyone that this will not happen. His seven-point scheme promises, one job per unemployed family, a minimum wage of Rs. 3000, Rs. 5000 worth of jobs for those affected by the mining ban and due to Covid tourism loss, skill university formation, etc.
