Karnataka Election Results 2023: Who Will Be The Next CM Of Karnataka?
Congress party got 138 seats in the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023, while BJP could acquire only 63. Now the question is who will be the next CM of Karnataka?
In today’s declared results of the Karnataka elections 2023, the Congress party emerged as the winner, dethroning the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
With a lead of 138 seats, the Congress party secured a strong position, while the BJP lagged behind with 63 seats.
The JD(S) party managed to secure 20 seats, while other parties secured 3 seats. Now, the focus turns to the question of who will become the next Chief Minister of Karnataka.
The battle for the Chief Minister post in Karnataka appears to be between two prominent candidates from the Congress party: DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah.
DK Shivakumar, the current Karnataka Congress chief, enjoys significant popularity in the state. He actively campaigned during the Karnataka elections and is considered a “new talent” capable of assuming the role of Karnataka’s Chief Minister.
Shivakumar’s prominence and contributions to the party make him a strong contender for the position.
On the other hand, Siddaramaiah is presently the leader of the opposition in Karnataka. He previously served as the Chief Minister from 2013 to 2018, until he was succeeded by Basavaraj Bommai from the BJP.
Siddaramaiah, a senior leader within the Congress party, is a clear contender for the Chief Minister post due to his experience and political standing.
While the Congress party has not officially announced the next Chief Minister of Karnataka, the competition primarily revolves around these two candidates.
The party plans to conduct a democratic vote among the newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to determine who will assume the role.
The Karnataka elections were held on May 10, and the counting of votes took place on May 13. With the Congress party emerging victorious, they are set to form the new government in the state, ending the BJP’s tenure.
