Kangana Ranaut To Break 50-Year Tradition At Delhi Ramleela
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut will be doing something very special this Dussehra. She will be the first woman ever to perform the Raavan Dahan at the famous Luv Kush Ramleela in Delhi.
This event takes place every year at the Red Fort, and it has been happening for 50 years. Until now, only men have had the honor to burn the Raavan effigy, which symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.
This year, the event will happen on Tuesday, October 24. Kangana will use an arrow to set the effigy of Raavan on fire. She also talked about this on Instagram.
She wore a simple green and white dress in the video and urged people to also watch her new film “Tejas,” which will come out on October 27. In this film, she plays the role of an Indian Air Force officer.
The reason Kangana was picked for this honor is tied to a bigger cause. The Women’s Reservation Bill was passed by the Parliament last month. Arjun Singh, who is the President of the Lav Kush Ramleela Committee of Delhi, said this choice supports that bill.
Every year, some VIP, be it a politician or a film star, does the Raavan Dahan. In the past, even former President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have done it.
But this is the first time a woman will do it. The committee believes that women should also have the right to end evil and wants to promote equal rights for women in all areas of life.
