Jagan Reddy set to shuffle Andhra Pradesh cabinet midway through his term
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is all set to shuffle his cabinet, just a little over midway through his term. Ahead of the 2024 elections, CM Reddy is said to dissolve his cabinet and let go off 90 per cent of his old team.
The series of actions in this direction have the first step scheduled for 3 pm today during a cabinet meeting with a 20 point agenda. It is expected that following the meeting, ministers would be asked to hand in their resignations. Sources have said, “90 per cent of the old team will be dropped.”
The move is not unexpected as Chief Minister had hinted of the big make over. He had plans of revamping his entire team midway of his term. The shuffle was originally planned for December 2021 but had to be rescheduled due to coronavirus pandemic.

Yesterday evening, Chief Minister Reddy had met with Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan and informed him about dissolving and shuffling of his cabinet. The meeting between CM and Governor is to take place again tomorrow when Chief Minister will hand over his list of ministers who would be sworn in on April 11. Sources have revealed only one or two ministers of the old cabinet will be continued over to the new cabinet. The sources further reveal the reason behind it – these ministers belong to communities that need to be represented and there is no other elected legislator from those communities.
Chief Minister Reddy is likely to repeat the current structure of his cabinet in the new team – five Deputy Chief Ministers, one each from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Kapu caste and the Muslim minority community. Furthermore, there will be three women in the cabinet.
