Who is Payal Kapadia?
The Mumbai born Payal Kapadia has been involved in the film industry since 2014 and she has previously been honoured in 70th Cannes Film Festival for her short film “Afternoon Clouds”. She has also directed three other short films. In the following years she carved her filmmaking style which had more artistic and realistic touch rather than the commercial elements. In 2021, her debut documentary film ‘A Night of Knowing Nothing’ which was filmed based on the letters written by a University and she had won the most prestigious award ‘Golden Eye Award’ at the 74th Cannes Film Festival for it. This year has been so special in her filmography because her 2024 emotionally driven drama film “All We Imagine As Light” was appreciated globally and by Indian critics. The world premier of this movie took place at the 77th Cannes Film Festival (May 23rd, 2024).
