Is Virat Kohli being replaced as the captain? Find out who will take his place.
All the rumors about the captaincy of Virat Kohli spreading since the last few months may ultimately stand true as a report reveals that the current Indian men’s cricket team captain may be replaced by another Indian player soon.
If these media reports are to be believed then, the 32-year-old aggressive batsman, who is the captain for all the three formats at present, may soon be replaced by Indian opener Rohit Sharma in ODI and T20. Sharma is the name that has been popping on social media for a while now and these reports reaffirm his captaincy in the white ball cricket after the T20 world cup.
A leading English daily reported that the decision has been finalised and that it will soon be announced by Kohli himself. He will also reportedly have members of the Board of Cricket Control for India (BCCI) alongside him.
Experts believe that this is due to his inability to focus on his batting and work towards improving it since the last few tournaments. Virat Kohli has been out of form for over a year now and though the team has been stepping up towards the end of the batting line up, it has been difficult on the bowlers.

Fans of the vice-captain are rejoicing over the unofficial announcement, which they were hoping to happen even sooner than it did. Some cricket enthusiasts even said that even Kohli Wanted to focus on his batting and this is the reason for handing over the captaincy to Sharma, then he should have done it way before and let Sharma lead in the T20 world cup.
However, other people on social media were quick to defend Kohli saying that he has been excelling as captain and without him in charge, it would not have been possible for Team India to win crucial tournaments. As for the terrific openers, he is at the best cricketing stage of his life, excelling in each of the formats. Kohli will continue to keep the captaincy for the red-ball cricket while Sharam will be handling the white-ball affairs. The two have come in terms with this mindset and already had long, deep discussion regarding the same, said inside sources from the BCCI.
