India’s first CDS Bipin Rawat along with others dies in Chopper crash

Coonoor -India’s Defense Chief General dies in a chopper crash on Wednesday. He was onboard an Army helicopter along with his wife and 11 others but mid-air, the chopper crashed in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shares the news on his Twitter handles marking all the achievements of the official.
He also said, “As India’s first CDS, Gen Rawat worked on diverse aspects relating to our armed forces including defense reforms. He brought with him a rich experience of serving in the Army. India will never forget his exceptional service.”
The Indian Air Force was the first one to confirm the news by saying that the Air Force Group Captain is no more with us. They said that they regret to inform that Gen Bipin Rawat, Mrs. Madhulika Rawat, and 11 others have died in the crash.
Gen Bipin Rawat, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) was on a visit to Defence Services Staff College, Wellington (Nilgiri Hills) to address the faculty and student officers of the Staff Course today.

The information about the crash occurred at around 2 pm today when the IAF had confirmed that the Mi-17 V5 helicopter carrying General Rawat met with an accident near Tamil Nadu’s town. All the 13 passengers were headed to the Defense Services Staff College in Wellington where Rawat would have addressed the faculty and the students.
