Indian Premier League 2022: 1,214 Players Register For Mega Auction
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking forward to the mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. BCCI secretary Jay Shah claimed that 1214 players have signed up to be part of the IPL 2022 Player Auction.
In an official press note, the BCCI said that the IPL Player Registration closed on January 20, 2022. Reportedly, 896 Indian and 318 overseas players registered for the auction. The two-day Mega Auction of IPL will see 10 Teams bidding for some of the finest cricketers in world cricket. The Mega Auction will take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. The players’ list for auction incorporates 270 capped, 903 uncapped, and 41 associate players.
Reportedly, the IPL’s two new teams; Ahmedabad and Lucknow also named their draft picks ahead of the auction for the upcoming IPL season. The new teams’ addition means that a total of 10 teams will be bidding for the top cricketers from across the globe.

IPL teams
A total of 33 players have been retained ahead of the Mega Auction. The existing 8 IPL franchises have retained a total of 27 players. Reportedly, the two new IPL teams have picked 6 players ahead of the Mega Auction. Ahmedabad has chosen Hardik Pandya for Rupees 15 crores, Rashid Khan for Rupees 15 crores, and Shubman Gill for Rupees 8 crores. Lucknow has chosen KL Rahul for Rupees 17 crores, Marcus Stoinis for Rupees 9.2 crores, and Ravi Bishnoi for Rupees 4 crores. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has chosen Kane Williamson for Rupees 14 crores, Abdul Samad for Rupees 4 crores, and Umran Malik for Rupees 4 crores.
