Indian Political Figures Pay Respect to the Former Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala
One of the prominent political personalities of both Haryana and Indian politics is the Chairman of INLD (Indian National Lok Dal) Om Prakash Chautala, who took his last breath at the age of 89 in his residence on Friday, December 20. He served as the Chief Minister of Haryana for five consecutive times which began from 1990 and lasted till 2005. His political endeavour has been transmitted from his father Chaudhary Devi Lal, who served as Deputy PM of India.
Veteran politician Om Prakash encountered legal battles during his active political career. He was convicted in the indictments of JBT teachers recruitment scam in 2013, disproportionate assets case in 2022 and was sentenced to 10 and four years of imprisonment respectively. He became the oldest prisoner in Tihar jail and due to his age & the health issues around it he was granted a temporary parole.
His excellent contributions in the sectors including infrastructure, agriculture, education, and women empowerment transformed Om Prakash as the iconic political figure during his tenure in Haryana.
PM Narendra Modi and many other politicians are sharing their condolences to the family of Om Prakash through their social media posts and pay respect to him in person. The present Haryana CM Nayab Saini has tweet in X that,
“The demise of INLD supremo and former Haryana Chief Minister Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala ji is extremely sad. My humble tribute to him. He served the state and society all his life. This is an irreplaceable loss for the politics of the country and Haryana state.”
