India Holds Two Positions In Top 10 Billionaire List
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Mukesh Ambani has become the richest Asian billionaire to be placed at the eighth position on the list, after beating Gautam Adani. Ambani has a net worth of $99.7 billion and added $9.69 billion in 2022, while Adani has a net worth of $98.7 billion.
As of March, Elon Musk became the richest man on earth worth $256 billion and is followed by Amazon founder and former CEO Jeff Bezos (net worth: $190 billion). With the entry of Ambani and Adani, India has yet again come on the world map for richer reasons.
These lists are put together after a lot of research and primarily comprise those who have built their empires through their own hard work and might not have a lineage to bank on.
Surprisingly also, in the times of turmoil over the Covid-19 and Ukraine war, according to numbers crunched by a business daily and data from Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Indian billionaires could hold on to 99% of their wealth in 2022 so far — and lost a mere $5 billion. In fact, they come next only to Switzerland in terms of retaining their wealth.
Over this period, India has emerged as the fifth nation with billionaires. The only two countries ahead of India are the US and China, who have maintained their first and second positions despite a massive decline in wealth. Despite having the third highest billionaire wealth in the world, India also has only the fifth the greatest number of billionaires in the world.
Apart from India, Switzerland is the only other country who has gained about $12billion in the last 3-4 years. Blame it on good governance and trade practices, India has reasons to celebrate its growth patterns.
