In-Flight Harassment Leads to Arrest of Man on Delhi-Chennai IndiGo Flight
Incidents of harassment on public transportation, including flights are unfortunately becoming more frequent in India. Several cases are reported in India where shameful acts were reported in flights.
Another recent incident reported during the air travel. A 43-year-old man was arrested for harassing a female co-passenger on an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Chennai. This flight was carrying 164 passengers. The flight landed in Chennai airport on Wednesday and after that man taken into custody.
What is the matter?
A resident of Vettuvankeni in Chennai, named Rajesh bothered the women seated in front of him. Women complaint to flight attendants but Rajesh continued to misbehave with her. When the issue became out of control flight crew informed the matter to pilot and Pilot alerted airport security. After landing security immediately boarded the flight and caught Rajesh and handed him over to the Chennai airport police.
DNext reported that Women filed a complaint against 43 years old Rajesh. Airport authorities begun investigation of matter, to ensure justice.

But this is not the first time this has happened, according to the Times of India on month of September 2024, a healthcare solution company manager was accused of molesting 55 years old woman in flight from Delhi to Sambhajinagar, incidents like these highlight the ongoing concerns about the safety of women in India. The government should took the matter seriously, as air travel is one of the safest modes of travel but the act raises questions about why women are not safe even in air?
