BCCI has accused outgoing ICC (International Cricket Council) of deliberately dragging its decision on this year’s T20 World Cup. BCCI is reportedly livid with this laid back attitude of ICC on the fate of world cup for this year.
Cricket Australia’s chairman Earl Eddings has already, repeatedly reported the inability of country to host the world cup scheduled from October 18 to November 15. The BCCI is of view that the “delayed tactics” of BCCI regarding the global event can seriously affect India’s IPL staging for the year.
A senior BCCI official said, “Why is the outgoing ICC Chairman (Manohar) creating confusion? If the host cricket board doesn’t want to conduct the T20 World Cup, why will it take a month to announce the decision? Is he trying to hold BCCI to ransom?”
Earlier this month after a meeting ICC had decided to wait further for a month to explore the scenarios and chalk out a contingency plan before taking a final decision on the global event in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
BCCI feels that a quick response on postponement of the event will help the nations to explore their opportunities.
BCCI official said, “Its not just about the BCCI or IPL. If ICC announces the postponement during this month, even those member nations whose players are not a part of the IPL can plan their bilateral series in that window. The delay in decision making will hurt everybody.”

BCCI and Manohar rift is not new and dates back when N. Srinivasan was the BCCI President.
