Google To Release ‘Wear OS 4’ For Google Pixel Watch
Google is making progress towards the release of Wear OS 4, along with the highly anticipated launch of the Pixel Watch. Wear OS 4 is the latest version of its operating system for smartwatches,
A recent leak revealed the existence of a specific build, TWD4.230609.006.B2, designed for the Pixel Watch. This build is based on Android 13 and represents an upgrade from the previous versions, Android 11 and Wear OS 3.5.
It’s important to note that Wear OS 4 has not been officially rolled out to consumer devices yet. The discovered build is likely an early preview version intended for the Android Beta Program.
Enrolling a Pixel Watch in the beta program through the Google Android Beta platform is expected to initiate the installation of the Wear OS 4 beta OTA update.
However, the sign-up process is not currently available, and it appears that Google accidentally revealed certain details about the preview version, including the TWD4.230609.006.B2 build.
Although Google hasn’t provided a comprehensive list of changes, some notable enhancements accompanying Wear OS 4 have been disclosed.
These include the ability to transfer data and settings seamlessly between different watches, power optimizations to improve battery life, faster speech-to-text input, and several new health-related features. Additionally, a new Watch Face Format will also be introduced.
Insights gained from exploring the Wear OS 4 emulator, which Google released to app developers in May (TWD3.230425.001.E2), indicate that Dynamic Color will be implemented for theme customization in Quick Settings and various buttons within apps.
The specific modifications for the Pixel Watch with Wear OS 4 are still unclear. The ongoing developments by Google may bring big upgrades for wearable enthusiasts.
