Glenn Maxwell Opens Up On His Performance For Punjab Kings In IPL 2020
Australian batsman Glenn Maxwell has opened up on his poor performance in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 for Punjab Kings. He failed to hit a single six in the entire IPL 2020.
The 2020 season of IPL was played in the UAE. He managed just 108 runs at a paltry average of 15.52. He will be playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) this year as he is retained by the franchise.
In the 2021 season of IPL, he played a perfect fiddle to Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Maxwell scored 513 runs in 15 matches.
At the RCB podcast, Maxwell opened up about his performance. He revealed his conversation with Punjab Kings during the lean IPL 2020 patch. He said, “ The 2020 season was a bit of a nightmare for me. Nothing went right. T20 cricket can be hard if you’re a middle-order player because you don’t get to play a lot of balls in the middle.”

Maxwell also said that he does not have the ability like Andre Russell and he cannot go for big shots from ball one. He said, “I’m not like Andre Russell who can come out and hit the first ball for six. I need time.”
In the podcast, he also appreciated Virat Kohli. He said that Kohli will be at his usual best in the forthcoming IPL 2022 edition. He said, “When I was playing against him in earlier days, he was a fiery competitor, getting in your face.”
The IPL 2022 will begin on March 26. There will be a match between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. RCB will play their first match on March 27 against Punjab Kings. This season of IPL is set to feature 10 teams with Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans being the new additions. It will also have a total of 74 games with teams divided into two groups.
