Gandhi says India in turning to Dictatorship from Democracy as he addresses farmers in Lakhimpur
Lakhimpur– Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visits Lakhimpur Kheri and Sitapur, UP today along with two chief ministers Charanjit Singh, CM of Punjab, and Bhupesh Baghel, CM of Chhatissgarh even after their entry ban in the city.
The Lucknow Police Commissioner DK Thakur mentioned that they are not allowed to proceed as the Uttar Pradesh government has denied their permission, even at the airport, Gandhi was requested to return but breaking all the protocols, he has arrived in Lakhimpur Kheri and Sitapur.
Addressing the crowd of farmers, Rahul Gandhi calls this a systematic attack on the farmers and said that there is a dictatorship in India now with politicians not being allowed to visit UP and meet the families of the victims.

In a press conference that happened earlier this week, Rahul Gandhi mentioned that in India there used to be a democracy but now there is dictatorship instead. He further added to say that all the farmers were being mowed down and no action was taken even though the name of a union minister and his son had cropped up in the incident.
The District Magistrate of Lakhimpur Kheri has imposed section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure which further prohibits assembly of five or more people at a time, after the unfortunate Sunday incident.
The car accident killed eight farmers in Sunday’s violence in Lakhimpur. A massive protest broke out in the district farmers knocked down vehicles driven by BJP workers traveling to welcome UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya to an event in the area.
