Former Goan CM Son Out Of BJP League
Goa – Former CM of Goa Manohar Parrikar’s son seems to have been given a cold shoulder by the saffron party. His father was a prominent leader of the BJP at one point of time. But Manohar Gopalkrishna Prabhu Parrikar who served the BJP till his death in 2019 has been forgotten, as is clear in the way his son has been ignored from the list of 34 candidates featuring from Goa.
But one’s loss is another’s gain in Indian politics. The Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is welcoming Utpal Parrikar with open arms right now. It is worth noting that AAP has been heavily campaigning in Goa looking at securing some seats here. It has given a great manifesto for youth employment post the mining bans but is in place by the current saffron government.

In a sarcastic tweet, Mr. Kejriwal said, “Goans feel v sad that BJP has adopted use and throw policy even with Parrikar family. I have always respected Manohar Parrikar Ji. Utpal Ji is welcome to join and fight elections on AAP ticket.”
Defending their stance, the BJP said, they already have a sitting MLA they cannot remove from Goa. Utpal was offered to contest from two other states, that offer still remains open. Towards this, over the last one month, several top leaders of the BJP including party president JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah as well as Devendra Fadnavis have also established contacts and spoken to Utpal to convince him but the response from him has not been affirmative. Utpal is indeed up for grabs by others. A Member of Parliament from the Rajya Sabha in the Shiv Sena Sanjay Raut has already put out a very cryptic tweet a couple of days ago seeking support for Utpal from all opposition parties to support his candidature if he contests as an independent candidate in Panaji.
