Elon Musk Confirms Linda Yaccarino As Twitter’s New CEO

Linda Yaccarino is replacing Elon Musk as Twitter CEO. Linda will focus on business operations while Musk concentrates on product design and new technology.

Elon Musk has announced that Linda Yaccarino, the former advertising chief at NBCUniversal, will be the new CEO of Twitter. 

The appointment comes as Twitter faces challenges in reversing a decline in ad revenue. Yaccarino, known for modernizing the advertising business at NBCUniversal, will focus on business operations while Musk concentrates on product design and new technology. 

Advertisers have been concerned about their ads appearing next to inappropriate content on Twitter, leading to a loss of revenue. 

Musk believes Yaccarino’s leadership will transform the trajectory of the platform. Despite Musk’s plans to expand Twitter’s offerings beyond ads, Yaccarino’s appointment suggests that digital advertising will remain a core focus. 

Musk’s controversial actions, such as mass layoffs and the hasty launch of a subscription product, have also affected advertisers’ confidence in the platform. Twitter Blue, the subscription feature aimed at diversifying revenue, has had limited success so far. 

Yaccarino’s departure from NBCUniversal is another blow for the company following the recent departure of CEO Jeff Shell due to an inappropriate relationship. 

Mark Marshall, the advertising president, will serve as the interim chairman of NBCUniversal’s advertising and partnerships group. 

The appointment of Yaccarino as CEO of Twitter signals a new chapter for the social media platform as it aims to regain advertisers’ trust and stabilize its financial situation under her leadership.

Musk had conducted a Twitter poll on whether to step down as head of Twitter, with the majority voting for him to do so, but he remained in his position. Now he has appointed a new CEO who will succeed him.
