In a first of its kind move, the Board of Cricket Council of India released tenders for the Indian Premier League for media rights. The tenure of the tender will be stuck to the 2023-27 cycle as they will be handling the 10 teams in the same umbrella.
This is a remarkable structure brought by the officials as it is for the first time that there will be an e-auction for the media rights. The announcement was made by the BCCI secretary Jay Shah where he detailed out the e-auction process.
In the same announcement, Shah also said that he is confident that through this process, the growth and progress of the Indian Premier League over the years will be reflected in a better war.
It is not hidden that the IPL is huge. In fact, to say that it is possibly the biggest sporting franchise will not be an exaggeration. The e-auction will start from June 12 but the last date for you to be able to purchase invitations is May 10.
The BCCI official took to Twitter to express his excitement saying, “With 2 new teams, more matches, more engagement, more venues, we are looking to take #TataIPL to newer and greater heights.” He stressed that he is sure that this process will lead to revenue maximization which will further lead to immense benefit for Indian cricket.
