Bangladesh PM flees Country, lands in Ghaziabad. Comments of exiled author Tasleema Nasreen on former PM Sheikh Hasina and much more…
The Indian defence radar kept a close watch on the C-130J aircraft, call sign AJAX1431, as it glided into the Indian airspace and flew over West Bengal’s capital city, Kolkata as everyone knew who was on the aeroplane. The IAF provided two Rafale fighter jets to assist the flight carrying former PM Sheikh Hasina to the Hindon Air Force Base in Ghaziabad. She was greeted by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval there and had extended talks with him about her security.
Sk Hasina talks with NSA Doval;
The Bangladesh Air Force Plane was monitored by the Indian radar system from around 10 km within the Bangladesh border and was headed to Delhi. It flew over Patna around 4 pm and reached the UP and Bihar border.
There were high-level meetings behind closed doors between Indian security and intelligence officials consisting of NSA Ajit Doval, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, intel agency chiefs (names undisclosed), and the Integrated Defence Staff chief Lt Gen JO Mathew before Hasina landed on Indian soil.
After landing at the IAF base, Hasina had talks in length with NSA Doval about the current situation in Bangladesh along with taking suggestions about the future course of action to be taken by her about her safety. There were debriefings made by Doval to the cabinet committee on Security where EAM Jaishankar, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were present along with Finance Minister N Sitaraman.
Comments of Taslima Nasrin;
Once ousted by Hasina herself, exiled Bangladeshi Author and communist critic, Taslima Nasrin have found an irony in the former PM’s situation now. She said, Hasina had thrown Nasrin out to please Islamists whereas right now, the same Islamists have ousted her from her Palace and position forcing her to flee her motherland.
In an online post, she said, “Hasina in order to please Islamists threw me out of my country in 1999 after I entered Bangladesh to see my mother in her deathbed and never allowed me to enter the country again. The same Islamists have been in the student movement who forced Hasina to leave the country today.”
Sheikh Hasina is likely to leave for the UK capital city London to seek asylum. She is the daughter of Bangladesh’s most revered politician and freedom fighter, Sheikh Mujibur Rehman who is considered as the father of the nation.
Begum Khalida Zia to be released;
There is also news that Hasina’s long-term rival, Begum Khalida Zia is to be released from prison soon now that her opponent has fled the country. Former PM Begum Khaleda Zia is the wife of former Bangladeshi Military Chief and President Ziaur Rehman and was imprisoned by Hasina during her tenure as Prime Minister.
