Banerjee Rubbishes Existence Of UPA In Front Of NCP Chief Pawar
Bengal–Mamata Banerjee has made it clear in her meeting with NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, that “there is no UPA”. This is indicative of the fact that her party is indeed in opposition to the Congress-led opposition front to take on the NDA.
Taking a swing over the Congress, didi also said that ‘politics needs consistent effort. If you are constantly out of the country, how can you ensure people trust you?’ Though Banerjee did not name a party or a person, observers said the comments came in response to a question about the role of Congress.
Further, the tigress of Bengal Banerjee has said that the opposition’s choice of PM would be decided by the evolving “situation and the states”, while interacting with civil society members, explaining that the important “issue now… was to wipe the BJP out of the country politically and save democracy.”

Rubbishing the existence of UPA as childish, she said “what is UPA, there is no UPA now”. “We have to draft a comprehensive strategy to take on BJP, we need united opposition. We need a firm alternative against BJP. My meeting with Sharad Pawar was to work out an action plan to defeat the BJP… I know Pawar, I have worked with him,” she said. Mr. Pawar would have been slated to lead the UPA against the BJP in the 2024 general elections. It looks obvious that the TMC will not toe the Congress line on a strategy for the opposition in and outside Parliament. In the recent past, it has poached Congress leaders in a bid to expand its footprint in the north-east, Goa, Bihar and Haryana.
