Atal Bihari Vajpayee Death Anniversary: President & PM Modi Pay Tributes
Today, 16th August is Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 4th death anniversary. President Draupadi Murmu & PM Narendra Modi pay tributes to him at ‘Sadaiv Atal’ memorial.
On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, the 4th anniversary of the previous prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s passing, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and a host of other luminaries paid respect to him.
At ‘Sadaiv Atal’ (Vajpayee’s memorial) in the capital, they were accompanied by a number of Union ministers, including Home Minister Amit Shah.

They also went to a memorial prayer service for a BJP leader who was essential to the party’s success in forging a winning coalition in the latter half of the 1990s thanks to his affable demeanor and links with other parties.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also recognised as India’s “Best Parliamentarian” in 1994. In 1996, Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the first Prime Minister.
He served as prime minister of India for six years, from 1998 to 2004. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 93.
He served as India’s prime minister for three terms between 1998 and 2004, starting with a brief stint in 1996.
Notably, Vajpayee was the first Indian prime minister to hold two successive terms in office since Jawaharlal Nehru.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee received the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian honor in the nation, in 1992.
In 2015, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, by Pranab Mukherjee, who was then the country’s president.
