Arvind Kejriwal Summoned By CBI In Delhi Liquor Excise Policy Case
The CBI has summoned Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi liquor excise policy case. Is he going to join the former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia & Satyendra Jain in jail?
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched an attack against Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summoned him for questioning on April 16.
This is related to the liquor policy scam case, in which former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI in February.
AAP alleges desperate attempt by BJP to silence opposition
AAP described the summons as a desperate attempt by the BJP to silence their opposition. The party alleged that the BJP is hatching a conspiracy to arrest Kejriwal inside CBI headquarters.
However, AAP emphasized that their fight against corruption will continue, and it will spread to every nook and corner of the country.
The AAP alleged that the BJP is conspiring to arrest Kejriwal in the fabricated excise policy case. However, the party emphasized that their fight against corruption will not be hampered.
BJP accuses Kejriwal of being the mastermind
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva accuses Kejriwal of being the mastermind of the liquor scam in which Sisodia was jailed. Sachdeva added that the day is not far when Kejriwal, Sisodia, and Satyendar Jain will sit in the same barrack of Tihar jail.
What is the Excise policy case?
The Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 was scrapped by the Kejriwal government following a recommendation by LG VK Saxena in July 2022 for a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in its implementation. Sisodia was arrested in February, and Jain is in jail for nearly a year following his arrest by the ED in a money laundering case.
There are allegations that money raised from tweaking the policy in favor of certain liquor dealers and the South lobby was suspected to be pumped in for election purposes by AAP. CBI sources said that the party is under probe as part of the money trail.
