Akhilesh Yadav to lead the opposition in UP assembly
On Saturday, Akhilesh Yadav was announced as the leader of the opposition of Uttar Pradesh. Samajwadi Party will now be officially represented by Yadav as decided during a party meeting.
Today, the party members also elected as the leader of the SP legislative party, after already being the face of the party for the longest time. Earlier this week, the leader of the UP opposition party decided to retain the Karhal Assembly seat.
With this, he had given up his seat in Lok Sabha which he won from the Azamgarh constituency. The announcement was confirmed by the party president Naresh Uttam Patel at a press conference after the meeting of SP MLAs.

“Akhilesh Yadav has been elected as the leader of the SP Legislative Party. The proposal to elect him was floated by senior SP MLA Awadhesh Prasad and it was supported by all elected MLAs,” he added.
All the members of the legislative assembly have accepted and given their blessings to the new party face at the assembly.
Patel also dragged the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is ruling the state and the nation, has been cheating the people of the state for a long and now that they have showed confidence in Akhilesh in last few months and it will soon be reflected.
Akhilesh had won the Karhal seat in Mainpuri by 60,000-odd votes in the recently concluded assembly elections getting the better of BJP’s MP SP Singh Baghel.
