The Kashmir Zone Police had earlier posted on Twitter that an incident occurred at Munjh Marg in the Shopian District. Police and security forces were present.
Officials said that the Jammu and Kashmir State Investigation Agency, (SIA), sealed several properties in the Union Territory worth crores of rupees belonging to the Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).
They said that properties in about a dozen locations, worth around Rs 100 crore, were blocked with restrictions on entry and usage in Baramulla and Bandipora, Ganderbal, and Kupwara.
They were notified by the District Magistrates of Baramulla and Bandipora as per the recommendation of the SIA.
They stated that the move was intended to reduce the funding available for secessionist activities as well as to destroy the anti-national elements of terror networks and terrorist networks hostile to India’s sovereignty.
The officials stated that the structures were blocked and that entry and use of the premises were prohibited. A reference to “Red Entry”, which was also made in revenue records, was also made.
They claimed that around two dozen businesses in Kangan (in Ganderbal), were operating from these JeI properties on rent.
