2 pipe bombs found in Tirunelveli cement factory of Tamil Nadu

The area is tense and restricted after the detection by the police and the Bomb Detection and Disposable squad. This factory is responsible for providing cement supplies to Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The pipe bombs were discovered after the cement factory management received a telephone call that improvised explosives would go off at five places in the cement factory if the callers were not given a ransom of Rs 50 lakh. Promptly, the manager informed the police about the treat call at Thaazhiyoothu police station and the officers began their search.
After conducting thorough bomb drills and check, they found the two pipe bombs. Right now, police suspect that this was done by ex-employees of the cement factory who are trying to take revenge. Many of these employees were terminated in light of the pandemic last year. Especially, the ones who were on contract employees. However, police sources said the department is conducting a thorough investigation from all angles.
