Zomato Downsizing? Ex-Worker Says 300+ Employees Let Go Unfairly

A recent Reddit post by an Ex-Zomato employee has attracted several eyes. He posted something which is really a sad reality, and silently growing in the market. In his post, he said that Zomato has recently fired over 300 workers without prior notice or information. As soon he posted this post went viral. This post hints at the frustration over the sudden job loss.
According to the post, the user was dismissed due to an “average lateness” of 28 minutes over three months, despite having a strong performance record. The employee claimed that Zomato did not offer a chance to improve or explain the situation. “No warning, no opportunity to improve—just a cold termination,” the post read.
The former employee accused Zomato of treating workers as “disposable” and warned others about job security issues in the company. The post quickly gained attention online, sparking debates about corporate ethics and employee rights in India’s startup culture.
After this one post, several other Reddit users shared similar experiences. One user who was working with Zomato, commented, “No warnings, no nothing. Boom—Slack deactivated, the account is gone, and you’re out before you can even speak.”
A lawyer also joined the discussion offering legal help to affected employees. Another ex-employee shared that they were fired for “a completely ridiculous reason” and were never told that their login time would count as non-compliance.
Some users believe the layoffs were part of a cost-cutting move. “The 28-minute excuse is just a cover. The real reason is downsizing,” one person wrote.
Till now there is no official comment from Zomato on this ongoing allegations. Stay tuned for updates.
