Krishnan Iyer (75) uses his flute and harp to treat patients without the requirement for a medical degree. Iyer, who has made a career out of his musical pastime, asserts that music has healing powers and that its positive effects on pleasure and well-being far outweigh its financial advantages. studies have revealed.
Music has been shown to ease pain, anxiety, and stress levels, as well as improve sleep.
Studies have shown that music is the most affordable kind of treatment, even though hope and optimism are two key components in the fight against any major sickness.
Iyer remarked that he feels revitalized and delighted after interacting with cancer patients, orphans, old as well as needy folks and amusing them through his music.
Iyer, who is from the Mumbai neighborhood of Vile Parle, had grown up loving cinema music and instruments.
Iyer stated “I became proficient in the harmonica, flute, and harmonium because I enjoyed performing music. I participated in school and college events, and subsequently, when I worked for prestigious corporations, I played music at weddings and friend picnics.”
Iyer’s love of music, however, took a profound turn 15 years ago when his mother became bedridden after contracting a disease and required regular care, which was impossible to provide at home.
Iyer, who spent over ten years visiting the hospital, stated,

“I placed her in a Jogeshwari nursing home, where she resided for three years, and I used to go see her once a week.
In this hospital, there were 40 to 50 patients laying on beds, predominantly women. I used to chat to those patients and play music for them during this period. “
Since then, Iyer has been on a musical healing journey with pals, beginning with a stop at an Andheri club. The club is for seniors only.
