Why Is Sachin Pilot Defying His Own Congress Party With Protest?
Congress leader Sachin Pilot’s protest is confusing some people. Is he protesting to fight against corruption, to defy his own party or to regain his position?
Senior Congressman Sachin Pilot was demonstrating against corruption in the state government of Rajasthan. He believed that his removal from his posts as Pradesh Congress Committee President and Deputy Chief Minister were an effort to exclude him from the state’s political scene.
Pilot had been looking for a solution to the problem and an opportunity to meet with the leadership of Congress to air his concerns.
Pilot traveled in Delhi, to meet with the Congress leadership after his protest received widespread attention. The following day was anticipated to be the date of the meeting.
Pilot had remarked that he wanted to stay at the gathering and was looking for a solution. He had also been fasting in opposition to the corruption in the state government.
Pilot had discussions with the state’s opposition party, the BJP, it was announced. He refuted the reports, saying that his primary concern was with the problems of the Rajasthani people.
The Congress leadership has formed a committee to investigate Pilot’s complaints in an effort to find a solution. However, Pilot had persisted in his objection and had declined to join the committee.
Pilot met with Congressmen Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and it is said that they spoke about the concerns Pilot had highlighted. Pilot had declared after the meeting that he was dedicated to the Congress and had simply brought up topics that Rajasthani citizens should be concerned about.
In short, Sachin Pilot is protesting against corruption in the Rajasthan state government, following his resignation from his positions as Deputy Chief Minister and President of the Pradesh Congress Committee.
After receiving widespread exposure for his protest, he met with the Congress leadership to try and find a solution.
It is expected that Sachin Pilot will end his day-long fast against own government today. He stated that he remained committed to the Congress and had kept up his campaign against corruption in Rajasthan in spite of rumors that he could move to the BJP.
