Vivek Agnihotri Criticizes SRK, KJo For Their PR, Fake Stardom & Stories
Director Vivek Agnihotri believes that Bollywood films, particularly those made by Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan, have had a negative impact on Indian culture.
He argues that their movies are not real and have damaged the cultural fabric of India. Agnihotri feels that Bollywood should focus on telling real and honest stories instead of promoting fake glamor and stardom.
In addition to criticizing their films, Agnihotri also accused Shah Rukh Khan of destroying Bollywood. He believes that Khan’s focus on huge PR, hype, glamor, and stardom has ruined the industry.
Agnihotri argues that Khan’s movies are not made for the people and that he underestimates the intelligence of the audience.
Despite his criticisms, Agnihotri admits to being a fan of Shah Rukh Khan’s charisma. However, he disagrees with Khan’s politics and believes that their approaches to filmmaking are fundamentally different.
Agnihotri states that if Khan is willing to work on his terms, he would have no problem collaborating with him. However, he emphasizes that in his films, the writer and director would take precedence over the actor, which Khan may not accept.
Vivek Agnihotri feels that Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan’s films have contributed to the decline of the industry and hopes to bring about change with his own projects.
However, it is true that Bollywood needs to shift its focus from superficial elements like glamor and stardom. Instead the entertainment industry should present real and meaningful stories.
The public or audience has been aware of fake PR & overhyped elements in Bollywood. That’s why the majority of Bollywood films are being victimized by boycotts.
Agnihotri recently released his latest project, The Kashmir Files Unreported, which sheds light on the real-life stories and experiences of Kashmiri Pandits.
Meanwhile, Karan Johar has returned to directing with his film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. Shah Rukh Khan, on the other hand, is preparing for his upcoming action-thriller Jawan.
