Vijay Hazare Trophy: Maharashtra and Karnataka Make Their Way to Semifinals
On Saturday, two furious quarter finals took place at two different stadiums at Vadodara. Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka and Baroda were the four teams who qualified for the quarter finals.
Maharashtra vs Punjab
The match began with Punjab’s win over the toss and they chose to bowl first. The skipper Ruturaj went back to the pavilion with only five runs, Siddhesh Veer followed him with no runs. Then, the team was anchored by the century knock of Arshin Kulkarni, Ankit Bawne and Nikil Naik banger performance and piled up the total to 275 in which they contributed 60 & 52 respectively. Then, landed Punjab with much hope but the wobbling partnership led to the downfall of Punjab wickets at a regular interval of time. Both the Singh’s Anmolpreet and Arshdeep contributed from their bat with 48 and 49 respectively.
Maharashtra wrapped Punjab at 205 and sealed their semi-final spot which is going to take place on January 16, 2025.

Karnataka vs Baroda
Another match which was taking place consequently at Moti Bagh Stadium in Baroda between Karnataka and Baroda. Baroda won the toss, and opted to bowl first. Karnataka’s star opener Devdutt Padikkal smashed the Baroda bowlers with his remarkable century along with KV Aneesh (52 of 64). They chalked up the scoreboard with 281 runs for Baroda. Meanwhile, Baroda bounced back with Rawat’s century in 126 balls and gave a neck-to-neck nail biting fight with Karnataka.
Fans were seated on the edge of their seats with unpredictable results till the end of the final over. Baroda’s win slipped away from them with five runs.

Karnataka won by 5 runs and they will face another team which is yet to be finalised in the semi-final on January 15, 2025 at Vadodara International Cricket Stadium.
The Final match will take place on January 18, 2025 and will begin from 9 am.
