According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Railways’ goal is to start manufacturing Vande Bharat trains on a regular basis starting in October with the production of two to three trains each month, increasing to five to eight in the following months.
By August 2023, The Railways had established a goal of producing 75 such trains. The latest train has finished all of its testing and is prepared to operate on a regular basis.
According to sources, it would likely run between Mumbai to Ahmedabad and make its official debut later this month.
Vaishnaw claimed during a press conference that the new train has several cutting-edge technologies.
He added that the new train’s weight had been decreased by 38 tonnes, which had an impact on its ability to accelerate more quickly.
Thus, the new train would accelerate to 160 kmph in 130 seconds as opposed to 146 seconds for the previous model.
“We’ll now begin producing it in bulk… Testing is finished… The goal is to begin regular production in October, with 2-3 trains per month initially, followed by 5 and 8 trains “Vaishnaw stated, “The majority of these trains will be produced in Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory.”

There will be more amenities for passenger comfort on the new train. It will weigh 290 tonnes instead of 430 tonnes and feature a three-hour battery backup. The ride index, which measures the comfort of the ride, has been raised to 3.2.
The minister announced that in addition to having wifi capabilities, the train will have 32-inch LCD TVs, which is an improvement over the 24-inch ones found in prior iterations.
According to reports, the upgraded model will include ACs that are 15% more energy efficient and cool the traction motor with dust-free pure air.
All classes will now have access to the side recliner seat feature that is currently only offered to Executive Class passengers.
The Roof Mounted Package Unit (RMPU) of the train’s new design has an air purification system that uses photo-catalytic ultraviolet light.
This system is constructed and placed on both ends of RMPU as advised by the Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO), Chandigarh, to filter and purge the air of germs, bacteria, viruses, etc.
