US Open 2025: Swiatek and Sinner Dominate on Day 3 as Gauff Battles; Djokovic, Alcaraz Headline Day 4

The US Open 2025 remains an exciting and compelling narrative. Day 3 witnessed the all-conquering world No. 1 and last year’s winner, Iga Świątek, and Jannik Sinner, the reigning men’s champion, making their first round matches at the US Open. They dominated their respective matches by winning easily. Gauff, the 18-year-old American, survived nervously to win a three-set, fairly contested match in the Arthur Ashe court amid the basking sun. Naomi Osaka also impressed on her comeback; Alexander Zverev and Tommy Paul did not stop. Day 4 could prove to be one of the festival days at the US Open with Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Aryna Sabalenka, and Jessica Pegula being the main attractions in Flushing Meadows.
Day 3: Świątek and Sinner Cruise, Gauff Survives a Scare
Iga Świątek continued to show her championship form by beating Emiliana Arango 6-1, 6-2, in a one-hour, one-minute match. The Cincinnati champion and recently crowned US Open winner, Iga Świątek, claimed that some days she finds New York competitiveness to be the problem, but that she is somehow able to stay focused. She will now face Suzan Lamens in round two.
The reigning champion Jannik Sinner mirrored the same style with a 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 demolition of Vit Kopriva. The Italian delivered a very strong performance, which he was building up with fans despite his past controversies, and he will be facing Alexei Popyrin in the second round.
Coco Gauff, however, faced a much tougher test. The 20-year-old American had to use three sets to outwit Ajla Tomljanovic 6-4, 6-7(2), 7-5. Gauff had her troubles with serve, but demonstrated the right spirit at the right time and secured victory. She now faces Olympic silver medallist Donna Vekic.
In other matches, Naomi Osaka glittered in sequins on a black and white Nike outfit as she dispatched Greet Minnen 6-3, 6-4. Lorenzo Musetti defeated Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in 4 sets, Amanda Anisimova defeated American Kimberly Birrell, and Alexander Bublik defeated 2014 champion Marin Cilic. No. 14 seed Tommy Paul carried an easy performance into a straight-sets win over Elmer Moller, and Alexander Zverev rounded out the day with a win in straight sets over Alejandro Tabilo.
Day 4: Djokovic, Alcaraz, and Sabalenka Take Centre Stage
Day 4 of the US Open is another day of superstars in Flushing Meadows. In another match, the world no. 1 Old Novak Djokovic will face world no. 145 Zachary Svajda at 11:30 am local time in the second round at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Carlos Alcaraz, world No. 2, who won the French Open earlier this year and took the silver medal at the Olympics, will lead the second half of the day against Mattia Bellucci. Next up after Alcaraz is the ladies’ singles match between Aryna Sabalenka and Polina Kudermetova, where the players are known to apply power within their strikes.
Jessica Pegula, a US star and American, is against Anna Blinkova, as both seek to keep home hopes booming, and Emma Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, steals the spotlight at Louis Armstrong Court in front of the boisterous fans.
The realm of Day 4 has to offer the very best of tennis, as the masses are set to witness whether Djokovic, Alcaraz, and Sabalenka will step into further rounds without blinking an eye.
