UltraViolet looks to expand India’s EV market with affordable scooters and bikes

Ultraviolette is going strong in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) arena! The company is planning to introduce a full line of electric scooters and motorbikes in a budget segment, thus enabling EVs to reach millions. It’s an almost complete turnaround from their previous entirely premium-focused strategy.
New Launches: Tesseract & Shockwave
Ultraviolette has unveiled two exciting new entries into its list of EVs on offer: Tesseract, an electric scooter retailing at Rs. 1.20 lakh, making the entry into the electrically operating world quite affordable, and Shockwave, an electric enduro motorcycle retailing at Rs. 1.50 lakh for the first 1000 buyers. The news is hot among all off-road bike enthusiasts.
Further Extending the Product Line: What Next?
At the launch event, the Bengaluru-based brand revealed its ambitious three-year roadmap ahead. The Tesseract belongs to the S series, while the Shockwave is of the L series. But that’s not the end of Ultraviolette. It is also working on yet another two series:
- X Series: Expected to offer sportier, high-performance bikes.
- B Series: Likely to contain the power cruisers for long haulers.
With this kind of diversity, Ultraviolette is on course as far as the competition in the mass-market section is concerned.
New Business Strategy
Earlier, the company focused on high-end models like the F77, which positioned it as a premium EV maker. The success of EVs, however, is in doing volume sales with affordable products. For this reason, low-priced electric two-wheelers are going to help the company attract a much larger customer base.
What else is in the store?
Commercial production for Tesseract, as well as Shockwave, is scheduled for Q1 2026. But the main question is: Will Ultraviolette maintain the attractive pricing? If going by demand, it might even introduce more powerful variants next year, priced at a premium.
