UAE on the forefront to provide Humanitarian Aid to Afghan families
Looking at the condition around, UAE extended a helping hand for hosting Afghan families, especially women and children. They are at the forefront and are taking required measures to provide these families with care and social support.
The initiative is led by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. They exclusively designed a plan which protects and safeguard these families without compromising on their dignity and self-respect.
The programme takes place against the backdrop of the UAE’s provision of support and facilitation of flights for a number of nations and non-government organisations to safely evacuate their officials and support staff. This also involves Afghan nationals who were stuck in Afghanistan and were willing to flee away.
To date, the UAE has successfully evacuated around 40,000 Afghans and foreign nationals from Afghanistan using its national aircraft and airports. It should be noted that Sheikh Mohamed is implementing his philosophies and beliefs by giving shelter to the ones in need and coming forward to support a humanitarian cause.
As the recent developments in Afghanistan have unfolded, UAE has embodied their principles by underpinning global cooperation and solidarity in times of crisis. Officials stated that it is in the blood and ethos of the UAE to give the most to the people who are in need.
Earlier as well, the UAE has distributed more than Dh206 billion in international aid from 2010 to 2021. With this, they were ranked as the world’s leading development aid donor for four consecutive years. Providing support to Afghan families and ensuring their safety in their hour of need, in addition to the monumental evacuation efforts over the past couple of weeks, is a hallmark of Emirati generosity and solidarity that will be remembered for ages.
