Tulsidas Jayanti: A Saint-Poet Who Awaken Indians Against The Invasions
Tulsidas Jayanti 2023: During the time when Tulsidas appeared, Hindu society was facing challenges from foreign invaders who were trying to convert people to Islam. Hinduism was being challenged in its own land.
Additionally, there were internal divisions within the Hindu community, with different sects and groups criticizing and opposing each other. This was causing the religion to lose its vitality and the society to crumble.
Tulsidas came as a savior for the Hindus. He acted as a coordinator, integrator, and reformer. He brought unity among the different sects and gods within Hinduism.
He wrote the epic ‘RamCharitManas’ to explain the true essence of religion to the common people. Tulsidas’ contribution was very important to handle the political situation of the time.
During that period, India was facing invasion from the Moguls. Hindu forces in other parts of the country, such as the Sikhs, Rajputs, Marathas, and Bundelas, were able to resist the invasion and protect Hindus. However, there was no ruler born in the Indo-Gangetic plains who could stop the violence and oppression.
Zia-Ud-Din Burani and Sufi saints Abd-al-Quddus and Sirhind were expressing huge negative views towards Hindus and advocate for their humiliation and subordination.
Tulsidas, a poet, played an important role in instilling a sense of pride among Hindus. He described the hero Rama as a symbol of justice, beauty, righteousness, and truth.
Another poet, Surdas, depicted the hero Krishna as a symbol of innocence, sweetness, pure love, detachment, equality, and fair play. These depictions of heroes brought a sense of love for life and assertiveness among Hindus.
These creations also helped the society to keep the spirit of assertiveness alive and restore pride in Hindu culture.
