Trump’s 2025 Peace Deals: A Year of High-Stakes Diplomacy

In his second term, President Donald Trump has moved quickly to position himself as a global dealmaker. From tense ceasefires to historic accords, his administration has stepped into some of the world’s most volatile conflicts.
Armenia–Azerbaijan Agreement – August 2025
On August 8, 2025, Trump hosted the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington for a deal to end decades of conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
Key Points:
- Final border demarcation
- Joint security measures
- Economic integration projects
- 99-year U.S. lease over the Zangezur corridor, rebranded as the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP)
DRC–Rwanda Washington Accord – June 2025
On June 27, 2025, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda signed a U.S.- and Qatar-brokered peace deal.
Rwanda will withdraw troops from eastern Congo within 90 days, while the DRC ends support for the FDLR militia.
Yemen Ceasefire – May 2025
On May 6, 2025, the U.S. and Houthi rebels reached a truce, mediated by Oman. Washington halted airstrikes; Houthis stopped Red Sea shipping attacks. Israel was excluded from the deal.
Gaza Hostage Ceasefire – Early 2025
Before Trump’s official return to office, envoy Steven Witkoff helped broker a phased Gaza ceasefire allowing some hostage releases. The truce collapsed by March.
Ukraine Energy Truce – March 2025
Trump arranged a 30-day agreement between Ukraine and Russia to stop attacks on each other’s energy infrastructure. Talks for a broader peace are planned at an August 15 Alaska summit.
Trump’s 2025 Peace Timeline
| Month | Region | Deal / Ceasefire |
| Jan–Feb | Gaza | Hostage and ceasefire agreement |

| May | Yemen | U.S.–Houthi ceasefire |
