The Indian External Affairs Ministry issued a late-night Advisory to Indian Nationals in Syria
Currently, the Syrian rebel forces Jihadi Hayat Tahir al-Sham, which is acronymed as HTS, are heading forward in conquering the third largest city of Syria, Homs on Friday, after their triumph over the complete control over the cities Aleppo, and Hama. These predicaments is leading to the flee of many civilians forcibly from their homes. After the continuos attacks of the rebel forces, the Ministry of External Affairs of India has issued a late-night advisory to prevent the Indian Nationals in Syria and instructed them to leave the country quickly on Friday.
EAM – Advisory
“In view of the situation prevailing in Syria, Indian nationals are advised to avoid all travel to Syria, until further notification. Indians currently in Syria are requested to remain in touch with Indian Embassy in Damascus at their emergency helpline number +963 993385973 (also on Whatsapp) and email ID [email protected] for updates”
Further,
“Those who can, are advised to leave by the earliest available commercial fights and others are requested to observe utmost precaution about their safety and restrict their movements to the minimum” added Indian EAM.
The sudden outburst of the HTS group against the Bashar al-Assad’s government has led to the displacement of over 3,70,000 people to other cities since November 27, 2024.
What does the Syrian EAM reacts to these tensions?
The External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson of Syrian government stated that,
“We have taken note of the recent escalation in fighting in the north of Syria. We are closely following the situation. There are about 90 Indian nationals in Syria, including 14 who are working in various UN organisations”.
The unrest situation of Syria rose after the discontent with the pro-democracy rule of Bashar al-Assad since 2011.
