Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma Break Long-Standing Records
In the ongoing T20I series between India and West Indies, India secured their first victory against the West Indies team in the third match.
The Indian cricket team successfully chased down a target of 160 runs with seven wickets remaining. Suryakumar Yadav and newcomer Tilak Varma played crucial roles in India’s win.
Suryakumar Yadav displayed an outstanding performance, scoring 83 runs off 44 balls, which included 10 fours and four sixes.
This remarkable innings helped him become the number one ranked T20I player according to the ICC rankings.
He also reached the milestone of hitting 100 sixes in T20Is in just 49 innings, sharing this achievement with Chris Gayle.
Additionally, Suryakumar became the fastest Indian to achieve this milestone, surpassing both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Tilak Varma, making his debut in this series, showcased his talent once again by contributing an unbeaten 49 runs.
His consistent performances over three matches earned him a total of 139 runs, breaking Gautam Gambhir’s record of most runs after the first three T20I innings for India. Deepak Hooda holds the top spot with 172 runs in the same context.
During the chase, India lost two early wickets. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma formed a strong partnership of 86 runs, which put India in a favorable position.

After Suryakumar’s departure, India only needed 39 more runs to secure victory, which was comfortably achieved with the support of Hardik Pandya (20 not out off 15 balls).
