“A Father’s Pain Behind the Spotlight”: Suniel Shetty Opens Up on Ahaan’s Silent Struggles After Tadap

Actor Suniel Shetty became emotional when talking about the difficult period his son Ahaan Shetty had to go through after his first movie, Tadap, did not make an impression. When Suniel gave a speech at the introduction of the song Border 2, he gave the audience a rare, personal insight into the confusion that ensued after Ahaan made his debut in Bollywood.
Going back, Suniel acknowledged that waiting and obscurity were getting the better of him. As a follow-up to his debut movie, he was followed by a hiatus. “It never ends smoothly in our lives, does it?” He said, and emphasized the fact that “even star kids are not immune to anxiety and self-doubt.”
When dealing with the common view that nepotism is the way to be an easy-going success, Suniel strongly opposed this. He emphasized the fact that “being his son did not mean a lifetime guarantee of labor and emotional ease.” In his view, disappointment, silence, and patience were the elements that defined the journey of Ahaan. By naming Border 2 a timely opportunity, Suniel said that he hopes that this film has come at a time when Ahaan needs it the most.
