Sudden Global Blackout of Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram Impacted Millions of Users
California – On Monday at around 9 pm IST, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp suddenly stopped functioning and resumed back on Tuesday morning which impacted millions of users worldwide.
The famous social media platforms Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, faced a massive global outage that halted the services for few hours. Facebook said that the leading cause of this outage was a faulty configuration change. However, no user data was compromised due to the blackout.
The Facebook team found that configuration changes on the routers that help network traffic between the company’s data centre caused problems that led to the blackout.
“This interruption to network traffic had an impact on the way our servers communicate, entirely stopping our services,” it added.
