Srinagar Security Forces Kill Terrorist in Encounter, Heightened Patrolling Ensues
The security forces killed one terrorist in an encounter that broke out at the Dachigam forest in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. Based on particular inputs, a coordinated operation with the Indian army was initiated in the upper mountain belts of Srinagar’s Harwan area as per the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The encounter broke out in the city’s Harwan area the previous evening and the next morning the security forces killed a terrorist.
The Kashmir Zone Police wrote on X, “Based on specific intelligence input, joint parties of SFs launched CASO in the upper reaches of Dachigam forest. Contact established. OP is in progress. Details shall follow @JmuKmrPolice.”
At the encounter site in the Harwan area where a gunfight between security forces and terrorists is still going on, security has been tightened up until more details are available.
The security forces had received precise information about the existence of terrorists in the area. “These firing exchanges started during a CASO launched by the security forces after the specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area. The cordon around the area where terrorists are believed to be hiding has been tightened. The operation was resumed with the first light on Tuesday morning,” a security official said to the media.
In addition to finding the terrorist location, the security forces found weapons and ammunition during the search, the police also demolished the hideout, prevented any potential negative event and stopped the terrorist organization’s schemes to undermine peace and harmony in the Kashmir Valley.
Security forces were seen maintaining a tight surveillance on the streets in a video taken from the encounter site.
